Alcohol and Substance Abuse

Why am I angry?

Anger is a normal part of life which happens when our needs and desires are frustrated.  It's like a warning light on the dashboard of a car telling the driver something is wrong.

Here are 4 common circumstances that can make us angry:

  1. We become angry when we expect something and do not receive it.
  2. We become angry when we receive something unwanted.
  3. We become angry when we are fearful, expecting a negative outcome.
  4. We become angry when we are frustrated with repeated failed attempts at changing something , someone or some circumstance.

Wisdom Keys:  Journal your expectations in prayer with God.  Listen for His answers.  Use forgiveness to release your anger.  Use proper boundaries to limit the violations of others.

My soul, wait silently for God alone,
For my expectation is from Him.
He only is my rock and my salvation;
He is my defense;  I shall not be moved. Psalm 62:5,6
