HALT
We need to give ourselves the
best chance of making good
decisions. A good acronym to
measure our emotional state is
HALT which stands for hungry,
angry, lonely or tired.
When I need food, when I'm
angry, when I'm feeling alone or
I just haven't had enough sleep,
I know that it's time to halt...
to stop, to take a break and
take care of myself before I
continue into a stressful
situation, conversation or
decision.
HALT is a good thermometer to
measure my emotional temperature
and give me permission to delay
a decision.
Sleep on it. Have a meal.
Take a walk. Talk to a
friend. Before sending an angry
letter, or saying something that
you'll regret later...HALT.
